When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder…

I’ll be there.

How in the world can I say that? Have you seen my life? Have you seen my sin? Have you seen how often I fail and fall?

How in the world can I say that when the roll is called “up yonder”, meaning calling out the individual names of the citizens of heaven – that I’ll be there? It makes zero sense if you know me like I know me.

There is one reason and one reason only that “I’ll be there”.

Jesus Christ and His grace.

Nothing else. I mean NOTHING else. Hear me – NOTHING ELSE.

I’ll be there not because of ANYTHING I have done, have ever done, or am now doing. All I can do is offer more sin.

But HE – He actively obeyed perfectly. He actively lived the life I can’t. He pleased God perfectly. He lived the sinless life. Not me.

But He offers that life to me – in exchange for mine. Take it, please – I need Jesus’ perfectly lived life to be counted as mine.

And that’s the deal – that’s the gospel – that’s the good news.

If you haven’t taken that offer, do so now. Right now. Offer your life of sin to Him, accept his payment for it on a cross, and take his offer to you of his perfect life.

Lord, when the roll of your people is called “up yonder”, I’ll be there. Oh my goodness how I know it has nothing to do with me and my “works”, it has everything to do with you and your work – alone. I’d have it no other way than this way where You and you alone get all the glory – and I get the help.
